CPS-judge "flabbergasted"

Judge Bolton, at Newcastle Crown Court on 14 June 2006, said that she was "flabbergasted" that the CPS brought a case which she dismissed on the opening day at a cost to the taxpayer of about £40,000. This case involved a rugby player who caused a small bruise on an opponent's head during a match. The CPS bring a stupid case like this but will not prosecute Helen Armstrong who stole almost half a million pounds.
