Crown Lawyers criticised by magistrates

Leeds Magistrates criticised the CPS on 17 April 2007 for wasting money on prosecuting Roger Pickett, a 62 year old retired systems analyst, for writing two letters to his ex-wife. The case was thrown out when Crown lawyers offered no evidence. The prosecutor, Robert Campbell, apologised, saying "its the Crown's duty not to waste further time or public money".
