23 August 2007. The Crown Prosecution Service brought a 12 year old boy to court because he threw a sausage which hit a neighbour on his shoulder!
District Judge Tim Devas said that he "could not believe that the CPS had brought the case" and the boy's solicitor said the CPS decision to prosecution "beggars belief". When the Judge asked the CPS whether it was in the public interest to prosecute a 12 year old boy for throwing a sausage, CPS solicitor Dianne Oliver, prosecuting, said that the CPS would review the charge.
Yet the very same CPS Office in Manchester will not prosecute a woman, Helen Armstrong (previously Helen Sherlock) who stole hundreds of thousands of pounds. |
